› Gibbons Fails to “Run to the Fight”
Des Moines, IA — Once again, Coach Gibbons refuses to live up to his promise to “run to the fight.”
Today, just like when he refused to appear at the Des Moines TEA Party debate, Coach Gibbons refused to show up to Steve Deace’s WHO Radio show to face questions from the voters and compete with the other Republican candidates in the arena of ideas.
Coach Gibbons says he wants to take on the champ – Rep. Boswell. In politics, just like in wrestling, you have to show up to earn the right to advance to the final stage of competition. If he is unwilling to compete in the first stages of the competition, then he does not have the right to compete at a higher level.
In 2006, Kim Schmidt symbolically carried around a cardboard cut-out of Congressman Boswell because Rep. Boswell refused to debate. Voters might be disappointed if Rep. Boswell has the opportunity to carry around a cut-out of a still-absent Gibbons.
Coach Gibbons repeatedly says he is “running to this fight.” However, it appears that he is repeatedly running away from the match when it comes to wrestling his opponents on public policy issues.
