› Dave Funk’s Christmas Message

I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a merry Christmas.  I hope your Holidays have been an enjoyable one thus far this year and I myself am looking forward to a bright year in 2010.

2009 has been a struggle for many in Iowa but let’s not look to what has happened and look to what can happen.  We really will decide how 2010 goes for us.  Much has happened that frustrates all of us but because we live in this beautiful country we always have the option to fix what sometimes, is seemingly unfix-able.

This Christmas let’s remember our nation’s founding and the words of Thomas Paine from December 23rd, 1776; “THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.”

I would implore everyone to step back as this Holiday season ends, and write down what is most important to us and what we’d like to see happen this next year in our District, State and Country.  As November elections near, use that piece of paper and vote for the candidate that most closely represents what you’ve written down.  This is no longer about Republican and Democrat.  This is about bringing conservative values back to Iowa District-3.  We can do it.  We will do it. Thomas Paines words from 1776 ring as true today as they did then.

Make next year the best year and work towards making every year the best year we’ve seen.  Merry Christmas and I wish all of us a Prosperous New Year!
